One of the most common factors that we don't think about is an every day activity. Your diet. You might not realize that not having the proper amount of nutrients can be a cause of premature shedding. When I realized I had trouble digesting red meats and chicken. I decided to eat vegetarian style. I didn't consider myself vegetarian due to the fact that I would eat chicken and fish here and there but cut out red meat all together. After a few weeks my digestive system had regulated but I had another issue. I noticed more than the normal amount of hair in my drain. I didn't pay much attention to it at first but as time went on my eyelash extensions were not lasting as long as either. My natural lashes were shedding faster than normal and only thing that had changed was my diet. The nutrient deficiencies that have been associated with hair loss include: Protein,Iron, Zinc,Biotin,Vitamin D. Dan Munford MS CSSD EP-C CSCS CPT RDN stated "Although these nutrients are found in plant-based foods, the best sources for many of these nutrients are animal-based." (sharecare.com) If you're planning on changing your diet make sure you are replenishing the nutrients needed for your body to keep functioning properly. I have recently integrated more nuts, beans and other high protein foods to replace the meats I have reduced.
